Overview
Umm Said Refinery is a long-established petroleum refining facility in Qatar, operated by QatarEnergy and located within Qatar’s industrial energy infrastructure. The refinery was first established in 1954 and has undergone several expansion and modernization phases to support Qatar’s growing domestic energy requirements and wider petroleum supply needs.
Its principal activities involve processing crude oil and condensate into finished petroleum products for domestic consumption and export. Current public industry data reports refining capacity of approximately 137,000 barrels per day, comprising an 80,000-barrel-per-day crude oil distillation unit and a 57,000-barrel-per-day condensate splitter. The refinery processes crude associated with Qatar’s Dukhan oil field as well as condensates from the North Field.
Umm Said Refinery forms an important part of Qatar’s downstream energy infrastructure, connecting the country’s petroleum resources with refining, product supply, storage, and export activities. Its continued development reflects Qatar’s commitment to maximizing the value of its hydrocarbon resources while maintaining reliable, safe, and efficient refining operations.
